The
Department of Special Services welcomes students and parents to contact us
for further information concerning any of the comprehensive support
programming available in RSU 68.
These services include:
ESL
services for students identified as limited English proficient
Section
504 accommodations for students who have a disability which significantly
impacts a life function
No
Child Left Behind Title IA support services for students at risk for not
meeting language arts and/or mathematics standards
Special
Education services for students identified as having a disability which
requires individualized instruction. These services include, but are not
limited to:
Psychological assessment
services for referred students
Individualized
instruction in content areas in a special education setting
Inclusionary
academic support in the regular classroom
Programming
for students with autism or pervasive developmental delays
Life skills programming
Specialized
social skill instruction and behavior programming for students with
emotional disabilities
Specialized
supports for students with other health impairments such as attention
deficit hyperactivity disorder or motoric handicapping conditions
Health
services for students with physical illness or for monitoring of medication
for eligible students
Related
services for identified students such as speech and language, occupational
therapy, etc.
We
are fortunate to have an outstanding staff, which works to provide
appropriate educational programming to students who are identified with
special needs. Our mandate is to include students in regular programming to
the greatest extent possible.
